Whatever the dessert; seasonal, holiday or international, simple or elegant, it is always the perfect ending to a meal or it could be enjoyed at any time of day. Here are a few local seasonal specialties:
Baci Ice-cream, Belgian malakoff
Kisses the specialty of the house served on Valentines.
Prinjolata
A traditional Maltese dessert prepared especially for Carnival. The name prinjolata comes from the ‘pine nuts’ which in Maltese means prinjol.
Figolli
Figolli are almond pastries cut out to represent symbolic figures. They come into their own at Easter time.
Kwarezimal
Kwarezimal is a Maltese Lenten sweet: Traditionally one of the few sweets that was permitted to be consumed by Catholic devotees fasting during this period.
